Woman defends dyeing dog pink... Discover the public reaction !!

Dog owner Laura Schakosky has defended her decision to dye her pet Jewel a shocking
shade of pink after receiving backlash.
The celebrity make-up artist appeared on This Morning with Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford to explain her decision after receiving criticism for her pet’s bright appearance.
‘I dyed her pink about a year and a half ago. I was looking for a cool outfirt for her and I saw pictures of dogs in Asia in different colours and thought “that’s so cool”‘, she said.
‘Her groomer said yes, and I thought let’s try pink and see what it looks like.’

Laura, who originally said she dyed the dog because of her star sign, explained that she did take precautions and checked with her vet first before proceeding to give her pet a pink glow, and said not only is the dye made from harmless vegetable juice, it also apparently doesn’t cause the pooch emotional distress.

Responding to criticisms, she said: ‘It’s funny, before I dyed Jewel I went to the vet and asked. The vet looked it up and the whole thing has been approved specifically for dogs. It’s like a vegetable dye, so it’s no different to using beet juice or vegetable juice.’

‘The dog feels more shamed if theyre shaved or coloured as it’s like a normal grooming session,’ she said.
But when asked how other dogs react to her striking appearance, Laura confessed they tend to avoid the Yorkie because they don’t know how to relate.
‘[Other dogs are] just shocked because at first they don’t know if she’s a squirrel or not – because of her size. But they don’t know how to relate to her because of her colour. I don’t know if other dogs can see color.’

When asked by Ruth if she’s merely using the dog as a fashion accessory, Laura defended her decision as being ‘fun and artistic.’
‘To me I’m a professional make up artist so I embellish everything. To me it’s like make-up for the dog, it’s fun and artistic.’
Laura spends £115 each time her miniature Yorkshire terrier gets her fur dyed fluorescent pink and has her nails manicured, and the whole process can take up to five hours
Jewell also has a collection of rhinestone collars costing up to £40 each.
